Tandem BASE Jumping Makes its Hollywood Debut: A World-First Achievement!
At Tandem BASE Moab, we've had the privilege of working on Hollywood productions since 2014, but 2023 brought an unforgettable milestone for our team: the world’s first-ever Tandem BASE jump featured in a Hollywood movie! This groundbreaking achievement was not just a thrill for us—it was a defining moment in the history of BASE jumping and cinema.
A new Hollywood horror film called The Sound will feature Tandem BASE jumping and includes athletes Alex Honnold, Brette Harrington and Adrian Ballinger, along with actor William Fichtner
Bringing BASE Jumping to the Big Screen
In early 2023, a major movie production contacted us with a unique request. The directors and producers initially sought to rent gear for an impromptu BASE jumping scene. However, after some hesitation about whether to include an actual jump in the film, they discovered they were working with the best in the business—none other than TBM’s own Matt LaJeunesse and Sean Chuma, the two most renowned Tandem BASE guides in the world.
Despite initial reservations, after doing their research, the filmmakers felt confident we could pull off something truly special. While their early studio attempts didn’t capture the energy they wanted, we stepped in to take things to the next level. We moved the shoot to a real cliff, providing the team with a breathtaking, authentic BASE jump that exceeded their expectations.
This wasn’t just any production—this movie featured Alex Honnold, the legendary free solo climber, and William Fichtner, a Hollywood favorite. The entire process was exhilarating for our team, combining the thrill of BASE jumping with the high energy of a major Hollywood production.
While we can’t reveal all the details just yet, we’re excited for the movie’s release and can't wait to see Tandem BASE jumping hit the big screen in such a spectacular way.
2025 Is Going to Be Huge!
2023 may have marked our first appearance in a Hollywood film, but the adventure doesn’t stop there. We’re currently working on three more movies set for release in 2025, each featuring incredible BASE jumping sequences that push the boundaries of what's possible on film.
